Perspective Shift!

This spring has been atypical to say the least. COVID-19 has swept the world, many people are facing unprecedented health challenges and other struggles, and the future feels really uncertain. That's why we're delving into perspective this month.

Perspective is the angle, way, or attitude you view things from. The simplest way to think of it is to imagine a child and an adult--the adult is taller, seeing things from a greater height, and the child is shorter, seeing things from lower down. But that's not where it ends. The adult is also viewing the world with all of their wisdom, lessons learned, and understanding of how things work. That's their perspective. The child, on the other hand, might not understand how things work, but they see the world with curiosity, openmindedness, and magic that an adult might not have.

We're not here to determine what perspective is the best perspective. We're here to show you some ways to change your perspective when you need to!

Why change perspective?

  1. When things get rough, it can be easy to get stuck in a rut of negativity. It can be hard to get work done, feel good about yourself, and make room for the things that matter. A change in perspective can jump-start you back on the right path!

  2. When challenges arise, it can be really hard to repair a friendship or work relationship after a disagreement. Being able to see your colleague/friend's perspective can go a long way towards keeping your relationships healthy, even if you don't agree in the end.

  3. Changing up your perspective makes you a global citizen. The world is huge, and full of people who are all having their own unique experiences. Being able to see things from someone else's perspective means more empathy, more understanding, and a deeper human experience for us all!

  4. Staying creative is one of the keys to happiness and fulfillment! Putting in the work to learn about perspective is a challenge to your brain--keep it fit!
