Let’s talk minimalism.
What’s it all about? It’s 2019, and Marie Kondo has finally made it into the mainstream thanks to Netflix’s Tidying Up with Marie Kondo, but does it really entail getting rid of...everything? Are there any benefits? These are just a few questions we first started thinking about minimalism, and we’re here to break it all down for you.
Minimalism is all about living with less. For some, that may mean emptying the closet and creating a capsule wardrobe (more on that soon!), for others, it might mean donating unused books and furniture, and for others still, it means intentionally creating a lifestyle that prioritizes flexibility and freedom. In short, it’s all about making room for what really matters.
Does it really entail getting rid of everything?
No! Not everyone needs to sell all their belongings and move into a tiny house. If you’re like us, you have a sleep shirt that probably should be retired, but is waaaayyyy too comfy to get rid of. Or a stack of Green Day CD’s from middle school that got you through some tough times. Not everything has to go. Some call this approach “minimal-ish!”
