From Point A to Point B...
Okay, so you’re living in Amherst, MA. But you see that your favorite band is playing in Boston. And you want to see a Broadway show for your birthday. And the closest Trader Joe’s is in the next town over. And you want to go to California during spring break. And you love hiking and white water rafting. And you love going out at night, and you don’t want to run out of new restaurants to try! And...and…and…you don’t have a car.
What do you do?
Don’t worry about it! Amherst is a transportation hub. From Amherst, you can get anywhere in the Valley, in Massachusetts, the Northeast, or even the world! Let’s break it down.
How to get from here to there
Hadley, MA: Take the PVTA bus down the road for under ten minutes, and you’ll be at the Hadley shopping centers! Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, Target, Sephora, PetSmart, Cinemark, WalMart, Bed Bath & Beyond, Marshalls, and more, are just a ten minute bus ride away.
Local Restaurants: There are dozens of amazing restaurants in Amherst. If you went to every single one, you’d be going out for years! But if you want more, Northampton and Springfield are just a quick bus or Uber ride away--about 20 minutes.
Boston: Get on a Greyhound bus and reach Boston in about 2 hours! From there, walk, take the T, or grab a rideshare to your favorite music venues, restaurants, clubs, and shows!
Hiking & Rafting: Hike up Mt. Holyoke, Mt. Tom, or the Notch. Take the bike path to Easthampton, or head out to Berkshire East, where you can enjoy rafting, the outdoor Mountain Coaster, ziplining, and snow sports in the wintertime!
NYC & Beyond: The bus to New York takes just three hours, and drops you at Port Authority. From there, you can head to any NYC airport, or into the city for a weekend of fun and a show! If you don’t want to fly out from NYC or Boston, you can get to Bradley airport on the bus as well, and it’s just 40 minutes away, in Hartford, CT. Don’t forget about the Amtrak train, which also takes you right to NYC & beyond.
See--the world is within your reach—and all from Amherst, MA!
