Amherst Summers

There are activities to do year-round in the Amherst area, but summers are exceptionally special! The sun is out, the grass is green, your neighbors have reappeared… (you may have forgotten what they look like during the winter!)

Whether it’s with your roommates or family, an outdoor adventure is certainly called for this time of year. Embrace each warm day with some of these free (or relatively cheap) outdoor activities!

  • Indulge with some local ice cream

The only thing that makes ice cream better is when it’s made right onsite! Pick from Maple Valley Creamery, Flayvors of Cook Farm, or the ice cream window at Atkins Farms Country Market.

  • Get some fresh air on the Seven Sisters

Hiking is a local favorite - and the Seven Sisters ridge is not to be missed. Strap on your hiking boots, pack some water & trail mix — and hit one of these trails!

  • Have a picnic lunch

Amherst’s conservation lands are most enjoyable in these warmer months, so take a packed lunch and a book to one of these amazing natural areas: Mill River Conservation Area, Amethyst Brook Conservation Area, or Mt. Pollux Conservation Area.
