Capsule Wardrobe Checklist

Springtime: plants show little bits of green, crocuses bloom, and there’s a feeling of change in the air. Here at 26 Spring, we’re big fans of springtime, for obvious reasons! We like to look at spring as an opportunity to reassess what’s important in life, and to set yourself up for success once the weather is warmer. After all, we’re New England folks, and we all hibernate from December-February, right? Let’s jump into spring, ready to hit the ground running!

Let’s talk about streamlining your life. Streamlining is about efficiency--cut the excess out! But that’s not all it’s about. In many ways, streamlining is all about self-care, valuing what you do have, and our favorite: making room for the things that matter.

As seasons change, one easy way to streamline is to create a capsule wardrobe. A capsule wardrobe is a set of perfect staple garments that mix and match seamlessly, allowing you to look and feel your best every day, while keeping your closet free of clutter. Die-hard fans of the capsule wardrobe swear that they can go all year with the same TEN pieces of clothing. If that sounds a little extreme to you (to us, too), you can cut down without tossing everything. The average capsule wardrobe includes 30-50 pieces of clothing.

First of all, your capsule wardrobe won’t count socks, undergarments, swimwear, sportswear, or formalwear--those are all daily staples, or special-occasion items that you wouldn’t wear every day. A capsule wardrobe is supposed to be functional!

-3 pairs of pants

-8 to 10 tops of different styles

-2 to 3 jackets

-3 to 4 sweaters (layering is your friend!)

-4 pairs of shoes

-3 to 4 other bottoms --skirts, shorts, joggers, etc.

For a total of under 30 items!
